Nfu-oh 50

Maggie was pretty, but not terribly special. To correct this I topped it with my favorite flakie, Nfu-oh 50, now Maggie is absolutely gorgeous, but it definitely looks more blue than purple after the addition of the flakes

Julep Maggie

Today I'm wearing Julep's Maggie, a very deep purple shimmer. Thicker than most of my juleps, this was perfect in two coats and plays well with SV. Pictures are showing very blue, but in real life it's more of an eggplant type purple.

Julep Mystery Box

Normally I don't like haul posts, I think they're a little too much like bragging, but I will break my rule for this one. Last week as the last promo of their five days of gifting Julep offered a "box of mystery" for 19.99, I'm a sucker and I bought. After a week of impatient waiting my mystery box arrived today and I am so thrilled! I got 10 bottles of polish, cuticle oil, topcoat, glitter, and 2 nail appliqués. 9/10 colors they debt I don't have and I can always give away the one dupe I was sent. I love Julep products and am labeling this as the best Christmas gift I've ever given myself...

Julep Whitney w/spectraflair topcoat

Today I have on julep's Whitney which is a very nice Taupe-y neutral. It can be worn with just one coat but my pictures show two. On the 2nd day I chose to add a thin coat of spectraflair topcoat because I wanted holo with out changing the base color, the result was subtle and very pretty. Pictures were pre cleanup so I apologize for the mess.

Color Club Gingerbread

Another holo glitter from the Color Club beyond the mistletoe collection. This was very thick and goopy, needed 3-4 coats to be opaque and another three coats of top coat to be smooth (1 gelous, 2 SV). With so many layers the mani was thick and wore well for two days, on day three it peeled off in sheets after I did a counter full of dishes.

Julep Taylor

Another julep for you... What a surprise right? This is two coats of Taylor with a color club accent nail, SV topcoat over everything. This mani wore really well, took this picture on day three.

Julep Helena with sparkles on top...

So, you've probably figured out by now that I love julep nail polish. Today I'm wearing Helena, a very bright fuchsia. This is the first julep I've had that doesn't look great in just one coat, Helena needed two and would probably have been utter perfection at three. I used SV topcoat and Color Club Candycane on the accent nail.

Color Club Sugarplum Fairy

Today I'm wearing Sugarplum Fairy from Color Club's beyond the mistletoe collection. Sugarplum Fairy is a very densely packed lilac HOLO glitter. It's extremely bright and looks insane in the sun, I'm not looking forward to removal but I'm positive it's worth it. This is two thick coats with gelous and SV topcoat to make it smooth. Like many glitters this dries gritty and was a very thick/gooey polish.

Zoya Neeka

Here I wore Zoya's Neeka in two ways, by itself on the first day and with color shifting topcoat on the 2nd. Neeka was opaque in two coats and I used SV topcoat as usual. The color shifting glitters are pigments that I purchased from TKB Trading's sparks collection and are available in three colors.

ManGlaze Hot Mess

Today I've got ManGlaze Hot Mess which is actually a matte glitter topcoat. On the accent nail I'm wearing Lippmann Across the Universe, SV topcoat finished the mani because I prefer my polish shiny. Even though hot mess is supposed to be a topcoat I only needed two coats for this level of opacity, ManGlaze makes great polish and is definitely worth the splurge.

Julep Jodie

Today's NOTD is Julep's Jodie, I would have never noticed this color on my own, I actually heard about it on the TPF nail care board from another polish fiend with really good taste. Jodie is a very pink rose gold shade, just a hint metallic. Perfect in two coats as usual for julep. I've seen this look much more gold on people with lighter skin but on me it pulls very mauve.

Warm and Fozzy

This was my thanksgiving mani this year, pretty subdued but pretty none the less. This was three coats of OPI Warm and Fozzy plus sv topcoat

Thanksgiving Mani

Every year I give thanks by volunteering at my church's soup kitchen, it started out as a way to fill my middle school's community service requirement but turned into something I truly enjoy doing. It also doesn't hurt that working in the soup kitchen makes me exempt from having to help my mom cook dinner... It's the small things you have to be thankful for, right? Here's last year's thanksgiving mani, china glaze 5 golden rings with bundle monster stamping in various colors. It was a little tacky but I had fun wearing it.

Spectraflair frankens

Like almost every other nail polish fanatic out there I LOVE a good holographic polish. What I don't love are the astronomical prices that they usually come with... Enter a few highly creative ladies on the nail care forums and spectraflair frankens were born. I personally love frankening my own holos because I can make them in virtually any shade I own and one measly gram of spectraflair goes a very long way. So, without further ado here are a few of my creations

Hidden Treasure

Once again, I liked my nail color too much to take it off. This time I added one coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, I love using this over reds because it tends to look like fire.

Julep January

Normally I don't go for such a bright red, it really is the color of a perfectly ripe tomato, but I got this as a part of Julep's flash sale and it was too good a deal to pass up. I used 2 coats plus SV top coat, formula was perfect.

Color shifting topcoat

I really loved Trina so I didn't want to completely change my polish, I threw on a color shifting topcoat instead. The pigment in this topcoat shifts from pink to gold and was purchased from the TKB Trading sparks collection.

1st post ever...

So, I really suck at this blogging thing. I got really into doing my own nails about a year ago, started this blog, and have taken several thousand pictures but haven't (until now) gotten around to posting anything. As I will be posting from my backlog my nail shape and raggedy cuticles will seem to vary greatly with every post, please bear with me. So, with out further ado, here's my 1st posted mani, Julep Trina. With flash in the 1st pic, natural light in the 2nd.
